…and CUT!

Holy moly, what a weekend at Luxe Bridal Boutique!

Since Maddy and I have never been one (or two) to really sit back and relax – we were totally stoked to have the Fabulous Four come to our boutique for a video shoot on top of our already packed weekend of appointments.

Video shoot, you ask? Fabulous Four? Ok, ok, here’s the scoop:

Luxe Bridal Boutique www.luxebridal.ca has partnered with an amazing group of guys – the brains and creative brawn behind Cloud in the Sky Studios, www.cloudintheskystudios.com or as we  like to call them – the Fabulous Four :) otherwise known as Joseph, Vu, Julien & Colin (in no particular order). Cloud in the Sky Studios is Ottawa’s latest team of Wedding Documentarians (Did I just make up the word Documentarian…is it a word? It’s not in spell check…).  The FF arrived at the boutique bright and early Saturday morning to begin the shoot with their fancy cameras in tow. The shoot was filmed entirely by and produced by Cloud in the Sky Studios and will showcase our exclusive and gorgeous gowns right in our own Boutique at 206 & 208 Dalhousie.

As some of you may already know, I am already loving these guys and have a crush on their amazing work (Make me cry/allergies every time I watch their vids) so I was not in the least bit surprised when they made us feel totally at ease in front of the camera. As some of you may also already know, I am extremely awkward and weird in front of any type of recording device and generally leave that stuff to Mads…but their calm, cool demeanor is contagious and kept me calm and cool too.

Right now, the FF are hard at work editing and we are soooo incredibly excited to debut our video at our Launch Party on October 21, 2010! Maddy nor I will have had a chance to view the video, so it will be a complete surprise to us – and we can’t wait!

If you haven’t had a chance to rsvp to our shin-dig – what are you waiting for!? Cloud in the Sky Studios will be on hand to answer questions, provide tips and showcase their work in the cozy comfort of our boutique.

Hope to see you there!

P.S. You can rsvp right from the Luxe Bridal Boutique website, www.luxebridal.ca or shoot us an email at rsvp@luxebridal.ca

Luxe Bridal Boutique Launch Party!

No loves a good party more than Maddy. (OK, me too!) After a tiny bit of persuasion and arm twisting she convinced me that we need to host a shin dig at our Boutique before the craziness of the season we call “Winter” attacks our poor little city.

So ladies and gentlemen…please hold on to your seats…brace yourselves for this incredible news…

Luxe Bridal will be hosting our Launch Party on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 7pm until 9pm! We are so excited to bring brides, vendors, friends and family together for a fun night of snacks, good music and pretty dresses. Need I say more?!

Everyone is welcome and we will have little gift bags for our fun loving brides to be, so please RSVP at rsvp@luxebridal.ca to let us know who is coming. We certainly dont want to run out of music because that would be embarrassing.

See you at the party!

Mellow Yellow

Now that fall is here and the wild Ottawa winter is only a few short weeks away I decided to make a play on summer with this punchy colour scheme. I love yellow…every shade of it. Mustard, custard to canary. I knew for such a bright and powerful colour palette I wanted to pair a soft and gentle lace gown by Robert Bullock. Enter, ‘Justine’. An empire waist, strapless sweet heart number that can transform from sweet to sassy with the just right touches of brilliant colour. Pair this beauty of a gown with the tartness of sharp lemon yellow and dove grey accessories and feel the sunshine on your face as you say, “I do.”

Video Killed the Radio Star

Do you remember the days of weddings past when your Uncle Bob reluctantly recorded your 2nd cousin Bethany’s ceremony from the rear of the church…while trying to capture the beautiful, “You may kiss the bride” moment, carting around a 30 pound piece of video equipment?  Poor Uncle Bob – forced to cruise around the reception with the VHS tape faithfully recording your Great Aunt Joan performing her rendition of the Chicken Dance on the dance floor?

Well, ladies and gentlemen…those days are LONG gone! Maddy and I have had the pleasure of working with a fabulous new production team right here in Ottawa, Cloud in the Sky Studios. We have lots to tell you about these amazing fellas in the very near future but to give you a tease, you must check out their latest work. The first time I watched this particular video, I was at home watching without the music (my desktop speakers are mad at me) and well… umm…I teared up and had to get a tissue (let’s call it allergies) not even ONE MINUTE into the video. I know, I know, I sound like a wedding obsessed boutique owner. But to see the bride’s father captured admiring his daughters wedding gown and smiling…(that was the moment I lost it …err…I mean allergies) that one tiny moment was so beautiful and so sincere…Wow.

We have lots of exciting news coming in the next couple of weeks, but I couldn’t keep a lid on this new company entirely. All I can say for now is this: the future of wedding videography in Ottawa is changing – and this team won’t miss a beat.

Viva Long Weekend!

First of all, Maddy and I would like to wish all of our brides to be, friends, family and partners of Luxe Bridal a wonderfully happy and safe Thanksgiving!

We had a crazy week at the Boutique, our first ever Sample Sale (still going on, btw!) and a trunk show by our good friend Melissa Gentile, which was a great success! We can’t wait to get our hands on our sample gowns from Melissa’s collection – we know you girls will love them as much as we do.

Oh and in other news, Maddy and I are heading to the Big Apple later this month to preview the 2011 collections from our favorite designers. We can hardly wait! We know that the new collections are going to be insanely gorgeoise (I love Mia Michaels. Just sayin’).

Aaah and hey, girls…if there is anything that you want to see more of, less of, chat about, brainstorm – whatevs, just let us know. We love to hear from our clients, to talk about lace and silk and other nice things. So just let us know if there is anything we can do to help you find the best dress.

Be safe this weekend and we hope to see you at the Boutique!

Melissa Gentile Trunk Show – October 8, 2010

We are crazy excited to announce our first Trunk Show! Melissa Gentile will be at the boutique on Friday, October 8th.

Melissa comes from Montreal and brings her incredible style and couture brilliance to Ottawa. Appointments are filling up fast and furious, so please give us a call (613-241-LUXE) or email (appointments@luxebridal.ca) if you would like some one on one time with Melissa.

Oh and remember, if you have your dream dress trapped in your head, Melissa can work with you to design and create your gown from sketch to reality.

Pretty & Preppy

This past weekend, I was wandering through the boutique looking at each of the gowns and feeling reminiscent of the reasons I love them all. Each gown gives me a different reaction and as always, I stop at Amy Kuschel’s ”June” and smile. The playful preppiness of this dress just screams classic couture.

Amy’s brilliant minimal design allows the bride to choose a fabulously flirty peony, a menswear inspired tuxedo front or for the less adventurous, keep it simple and unadorned.  I must mention the perfectly proportioned pockets that are not only a dream for posing for photographs but keep your favorite lip-gloss out of your new husband’s tux jacket during the reception.

I couldn’t resist pairing the gown with a Burberry inspired tartan print and using those deep dues in a wedding theme. Rich red and velvety black mixed with warm chocolate brown create a classic palette. Paired with Coren Moore’s “Alexis” gown and crisp ivory accessories would make any bridal party look like the bees knees.

Haute Couture? Très chic!

Luxe Bridal is tickled to remind our stylish city that in a few short weeks we will be featuring the ridiculously gorgeous bridal gowns by Montreal based designer, Melissa Gentile.

Melissa has been featured in several editorials and most recently will have one of her gowns on the cover of the 2010/2011 issue of Elegant Wedding Magazine!

But that’s only half of the story…

We had the pleasure of meeting with Melissa at our boutique (think hot humid day in July, mid-renos, lots of dust, big hair) to discuss her willingness to join us in Ottawa on a regular basis for design consultations. Thankfully, Melissa was loving the idea!

So what does this mean exactly? Well ladies, here it is. If a custom made gown created by one of Canada’s freshest, coolest and talented designers is your wedding day dream, then give us a jingle or stop by to chat and we can make it happen.

In the meantime, don’t forget to check out www.melissagentile.com to preview her collection & check out our designer bio page on Melissa for more info!

‘Tis the Season!

I know..I know..it’s August! We have had such positive feedback on the Coren Moore line of ‘Maids dresses we have decided we must tell the world that these dresses are not just for bridesmaids!

We can’t keep these gowns as samples – they are flying off the racks!

So ladies. Now is the time to customize your favorite Coren Moore dress in your fave color to get it in time for the Holiday season. These dresses are silk shantung, made in NYC’s garment district and are pretty freakin’ fabulous.

Belt it, cardigan, pumps, flats, shrug, bling – you name it, you can style it.

Don’t believe me? Come see for yourself!
